Santificado sea el nombre de Dios - Circuit Assembly

There are no circuit assemblies in English this year due to lack of speakers, so our English congregation was assigned to this weekend's assembly. We were happy because we have been missing Spanish lately and were looking forward to going back to our roots. :)

This year, however, it turned out a bit different than expected. Unlike last year, we now have many families in the Cuenca English congregation who don't speak any Spanish but who were assigned all the same to the Spanish assembly. Hoping that they would still benefit from the program, the Brothers asked the ones of us who speak both languages to pair up with 1 or 2 Engligh-speakers and translate the program for them via rapid note taking in English.

So we listened to the program in Spanish and ferverently scribbled as much information as we could in English, along with the scriptures. It worked out well, but was a bit harder than I anticipated, not because of the actual translation, but have you ever taken notes nonstop for 2 straight days while people on both sides of you look on? At the end of the second day, I had written 26 pages of notes.

Of course, our neighbors Don and Ginger. Thanks for the sandwhich guys. It was very pesto-y!

This is a super cool couple from Switzerland who have been in Ecuador for a few years and in Cuenca English for a few months now. They have been an excellent addition to the congregation. Well, not Andre so much... :) jk.

The peak attendance was 955 and we had 10 baptized.

With Mateo Salazar, a Cuenca English native and good friend who recently left us all for Bethel in July. We miss you amiguito!

Don's famous wink.

Familia Salazar.

The Cahoon girls, part of a new family from Canada/US. We finally have kids in our hall! It's been fun. In fact, I promised to have a slumber party for them as soon as Hannah got here with all the girls in the hall, and this weekend I am making good on the promise. We are doing an Bollywood theme. Yay!

...and Cahoon mom and dad.

What a wonderful experience. I'm sure you remember more than if you hadn't been taking notes like that! Enjoy your slumber party!

I love the field service tab! You always do an excellent job relaying your experiences and they are so encouraging. I even started my Mom reading them. As to the main (home) experiences it took like 15 minutes using the (older posts) button to get a link to the beginning so she could start off from there. I thought I was never going to get to the beginning, there is just that much material. Please know each of your efforts in the blog and in the service over there is very much appreciated by all of us and we wish you only the best in your continued service to Jehovah.

BTW, if anyone still happens to have the old version of the field service tab visible in their browser, I'm sure Elsie wouldn't mind if you copied the text and sent it to her via e-mail...

...unfortunately, I don't.
