Brrrrrrr..........

Lately it has been even more than usually cold here in Cuenca. Our apartment in particular was not made for the cold with our concrete walls and tile floors. So we have been coming up with new and interesting ways to stay warm. Here are some of the things we do.... some more rediculous than others. Here are some pictures to demonstrate.

Obviously this is a more normal solution. We bought this little heater for $20, and we now know why it only cost $20. It only heats up the space about a foot in front of it. But, it's something.

Our hands are practically glued to our mugs with a continuous cycle of hot tea and coffee and hot chocolate. Sadly I see our supply of Starbucks running out very quickly.

See- Elsie can't even put down here hot drink while she's doing the laudery.

Hair dryer- very useful to get a quick warm up. The dryer is also great for throwing our big sweatshirts or blankets in for a few minutes. Mmmmm toasty warm!

No, Elsie isn't getting ready to go play out in the snow. This is how we often dress while in our house. Especially when we are sitting for hours doing our shool work, we need to stay bundled up in the warmest things we have. Thank goodness for fingerless gloves!

This is a heater, isn't it?

When all else fails...

Besides these, we have even more methods. Running up and down the 4 flights of stairs in our building, dancing like crazy people, opening the windows to let a little warm air in (outside is often warmer than inside), eating as much spicy food as possible. Feel free to leave us any suggestions. I'm sure there's something we haven't thought of.

Hola.... If it's any consolation, our house is cold too! I like the last way to keep warm.

My Suggestion.... dont get out of bed unless absolutely necessary. Ie Food, BaƱo, Preaching or meetings.

By the way good to see you back Hannah, catch up soon.

Wearing every article of clothing you own works sometimes, plus running in place, and standing on your head (at least for your face)... but bourbon trumps gin for the warm up. :-) Oh, and, does Juan Valdez make house calls in Ecuador? Sounds like you may need to replenish your supplies.

Thinking of warm vacations (past or future) may or may not work for you... or... tropical photos?

The classic cure has always been a hot shower (or possibly in your case, bath).

OK, for real... if outside is warmer than inside, how about some box fans and an open window to ease your suffering a little? Daily exercise always seems to help... even after you're done exercising. Since I'm imagining it to be cheap there, try wool. It's awesome as long as it's not itchy (is good quality).

This was hilarious, BTW. Stay warm!
