Market Day in Otavalo

Hello everyone...

Well, Josh and Sean arrive in 2 days, so we are anxiously preparing for that. Well honestly, we haven't started preparing for that, but we definitely plan on doing it soon! Ha ha! Tomorrow we'll try to do marathon studies for the week as we leave on Thursday for the coast. I currently have a cold and no voice, but am hoping for that to change by tomorrow so I can get my week's worth of studies done tomorrow.

In the meantime, our apartment is getting sparcer as people come pick up the furniture we're selling.
This last weekend was busy with Enlgish group stuff as always, including a field trip on Sunday to the town of Otavalo. There is a world-famous market there, mostly known for textiles and Alpaca sweaters and blankets. They are exported and sold in other countries for about 5 times the price we can get them locally for. I finally bought two large Alpaca blankets, something I've been wanting to do for 2 years. Now that we are going to Cuenca, I thought the purchased justified. (It's cold there!)

Originally, we planned on going to Mital del Mundo (Middle of the World) that day, but a bad traffic jam made it impossible, so we changed our plans to Otavalo instead. Here are a few pics of the day trip and th Otavalo market.

Otavalo looks fantastic. The textiles are world famous. Well, pity you can't load a truck:). There's leather nearby also, I believe........another truck:).The whole page is fantastic and you sure make a pair of pretty missionaries in every way.
